Capital Letters
Capital letters in the pronunciation indicate pitch. This is not stress, or loudness. Rather, it is a slight rise in the tone. For example:
DOH-koh nee oh soo-mah-ee dehs kah.
The first syllable of the Japanese, DOH, should be voiced at a higher tone than the rest. It does not mean that the syllable is stressed, but that the pitch of the voice is slightly higher.
